Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art developed primarily by the Gracie family in Brazil over the course of the 20th century that focuses on taking the opponent to the ground where he can be controlled and forced to submit with a huge variety of chokes and joint locks.

During training and competition all submission holds are applied in a measured and progressive manner so that there is plenty of time to “tap out” before any damage is caused and a student applying a submission will always release the hold immediately to ensure his opponents safety.

This method of training ensures that BJJ remains arguably the most effective martial art because all the techniques used can be practiced regularly against a fully resisting opponent so the student is well aware of how his mind and body will react in a genuine confrontation and he can be sure that his or her techniques will work.

BJJ Revolution Team has been running in Dublin since 2008 and remains one of the most successful BJJ clubs in the Ireland with excellent competition results throughout our history. There are several European and National Championship winners at each belt level training regularly at the gym.

We have black belt instructors visiting the gym throughout the year and numerous Purple and Blue belt students there is a huge wealth of experience available to help you achieve what you want from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, whether that be to do a bit of fitness work that is fun and helps you to learn self defence all the way through to being a full time competition player who can compete at the highest level in BJJ and MMA.

BJJ Classes are taught by BJJ European champion Andy Ryan.
